PTLLS Course

This PTLLS course is run over 5 days, with the first 3 days teaching and the final 2 days assessments. PTLLS is pre-PGCE, and qualifies the candidate to teach anyone from 14 years of age and older. It is accredited with Edexcel and provides a Level 3/4 BTEC qualification.

PTLLS has become a compulsory qualification for anyone teaching using funding from several government funding agencies, including the biggest funding agency in the United Kingdom the Skills Funding Agency. Several further government funding agencies also look likely to make PTLLS compulsory in the near future.

Course Objectives

On completion of the one mandatory PTLLS unit, learners will have demonstrated that they are able to:

• Understand own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching
• Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area
• Demonstrate session planning skills
• Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping

Course Length

5 days including micro teach session.  Candidates will also need to complete 5 written assignments to achieve this qualification
