The unit will help the learner to identify relevant opportunities for career development that are matched to their experience, skills and aspirations. The emphasis of the unit is for the learner to evaluate potential employment opportunities in terms of their relevance to ongoing career development.

The learner will be expected to:

1. Understand that personal skills, qualities and experience influence career progression

2. Assess information and guidance on career progression and development

3. Understand the importance of work and study opportunities to career progression

4. Be able to plan their own career progression
