Health and Safety is a crucial aspect of work experience and it is important that learners be aware of the risks and hazards they could face in the workplace. The unit will encourage learners to develop an awareness of their own responsibilities and actions in reducing the risk of harm to themselves and others. This will involve knowing how to follow safety instructions and being aware of potential hazards in the workplace.

The learner will be expected to:

1. Know about potential risks and hazards in the workplace

2. Know what responsibilities people have for safety in the workplace

3. Be aware of ways in which they can reduce the risk of harm to themselves and others

4. Know how to deal with low risk hazards in the workplace
