Volunteers make an important contribution to the community / organisation / individual that they work with while also gaining valuable skills. In particular, volunteers gain greater confidence in meeting people, leading to strong communication skills. In order to achieve this unit learners will need to participate in brief period of unpaid voluntary work.
The learner will be expected to:
1. Know about different types of voluntary work and different roles within the voluntary sector
2. Know the benefits of participating in voluntary work by identifying some of the benefits of voluntary work for both the volunteer and the organisation / individual / community being served
3. Undertake voluntary work under direct supervision
